CARDIOMETABOLIC DISEASE

CARDIO-METABOLIC DISEASE

HEART ATTACK, STROKE & DIABETES

Our aim is to prevent cardiometabolic disease (collectively heart attacks, stroke, and diabetes). Optimal cardiometabolic health is integral for an optimal HealthSpan. We incorporate the BaleDoneen® Method along with our own holistic approach to heart health. Our providers are experts in the treatment of cardiometabolic disease and lipidology.

RISK FACTORS FOR CARDIOMETABOLIC DISEASE?

RISK FACTORS FOR CARDIO-METABOLIC DISEASE?

CARDIOMETABOLIC RISK FACTORS

I often get asked by patients if they are at risk for a heart attack, stroke, or diabetes. These conditions, which I collectively term cardiometabolic disease, account for more deaths and disability than anything else in this country. If someone has any of these risk factors, they should be appropriately screened to see if any amount of disease (e.g,. plaque or inflammation) is lurking in their arteries.

CARDIO-VASCULAR DISEASE SCREENING

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE SCREENING

WHAT’S IN YOUR ARTERIES?

Inflammation, plaque, cholesterol, metabolic disease – all of these things should be well understood, both by you and your healthcare provider. There should be a clear cut approach to assessment, diagnosis, root cause analysis, and a clear plan for risk factor reduction.

Heart attacks and strokes, in a majority of cases, occur when there is already plaque in the arteries. But if there is plaque in the arteries, there must also be inflammation that can trigger an adverse event (from plaque rupture). It’s important to consider the things that will cause plaque to develop in the first place, but it’s even more important to consider root causes of inflammation.

There are diagnostic tests that can quickly and easily be performed, in the office, that can identify arterial plaque and inflammation. There are also many inflammation biomarkers blood tests that are inexpensive, which provide good information about the health of the arteries.

METABOLIC SYNDROME

THREE STRIKES YOU’RE OUT

One of the most common diseases in the United States, and other similar nations, is one of the most underdiagnosed, undertreated conditions, which happens to be the root cause of a significant amount of cardiovascular disease.

I’ve seen many patients over the years who have come to me because they feel stuck. They are stuck with their progress, their weight loss, and their energy levels – many of them aren’t sleeping well at night either. These people often present with similar medical complaints like fatigue, weight gain, food cravings, and poor sleep.
